Key Differences among Prospects, Customers & Clients - by: Ogundeji Samuel O. (SamuelCares)
Prospects are people who might be interested in your product or service but have not bought yet.
Key characteristics:
They fit your target audience
They are aware or becoming aware of what you offer
They haven’t made any purchase
Example:
Someone who sees your Facebook post about your Digital Product and asks for details in your inbox.
👉 They are potential buyers.
2. Customers
Customers are people who have bought a product from you at least once.
Key characteristics:
They have completed a purchase
The relationship may be short-term
They may buy once or occasionally
Example:
Someone who buys your ₦5,000 Digital Product once after seeing your advert.
👉 They are buyers of your product.
3. Clients
Clients are people who have an ongoing relationship with your business, usually for services or repeated purchases.
Key characteristics:
Long-term relationship
Trust and loyalty
Often involves continuous service
Example:
Someone who regularly pays you for consultation, training, or marketing guidance.
👉 They are long-term business partners.
💡 Simple way to remember it:
Prospect → Customer → Client
Stranger → Buyer → Loyal Partner
Remember:
Prospects show interest, Customers make purchases, Clients build relationships.
Question:
